The CIC researches and writes about issues affecting incarcerated DC residents, beyond reports based on facility inspections or CIC events.

Additionally, the CIC produces Follow-Up Recommendation Reports, as required by DC Law 24-344  (f)(1)(B)(iii). Per this law, the CIC is required to produce “a review of the Bureau of Prisons' and Department of Corrections' implementation of recommendations issued by the CIC within the past 5 years”.
