On January 12, 2023, the District of Columbia Council passed and signed the Corrections Oversight Improvement Omnibus Amendment Act of 2022. Section 22 of the Act is “First Step Act parity in earned time credits.” Section 22 extends sentence reduction benefits of the First Step Act (FSA) to DC Code offenders. The bill became law on May 11, 2023.
