DC Corrections Information Council Bulletin - July 15, 2016
Thanks to all who participated in the CIC Pop-Up Think Tank: Reimagining CTF on July 14, 2016. Community members, advocates, lawyers, and service providers participated in an enriching discussion about DC incarcerated residents and how DC Dept. of Corrections' takeover of the Correctional Treatment Facility (CTF) might be beneficial to their reentry. Here is the summary report of the think tank.
This letter-writing event for children of incarcerated parents will feature free stationery, writing suppplies, postage and handling. There will be free haircuts, a spoken word performance by Free Minds & Mouths of Babes and a selfie corner with printed pictures for mailing.
There will be a book giveaway and refreshments will be provided.
In commemoration of the Department of Justice designating April 24-30, 2016, National Reentry Week, the Corrections Information Council is holding the CIC Pop-Up Think Tank: Engaging Families for Successful Reentry after our next Open Meeting on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at 5 pm. The think tank will start with brief introductions of group facilitators who are family members of incarcerated DC residents and experts in the field of family engagement.
