This letter-writing event for children of incarcerated parents will feature free stationery, writing suppplies, postage and handling. There will be free haircuts, a spoken word performance by Free Minds & Mouths of Babes and a selfie corner with printed pictures for mailing.
There will be a book giveaway and refreshments will be provided.
In commemoration of the Department of Justice designating April 24-30, 2016, National Reentry Week, the Corrections Information Council is holding the CIC Pop-Up Think Tank: Engaging Families for Successful Reentry after our next Open Meeting on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at 5 pm. The think tank will start with brief introductions of group facilitators who are family members of incarcerated DC residents and experts in the field of family engagement.

Title: Welcome Home Event 2014

Who is invited: Returning citizens, family members of currently and formerly incarcerated residents, and interested community members
Event details: The event will begin with a welcome, a description of the CIC, and a couple speeches. Then we would continue with some light refreshments.

The purpose for this event is for the CIC board members and staff to introduce themselves to the public and return citizens, inform them the purpose of the CIC an to acknowledge the returning citizens.
