Update on Corrections Information Council Operating Status During COVID-19 Emergency

In accordance with Mayor Muriel Bowser’s decision to modify the work schedule of District of Columbia employees, the CIC will operate under a 100% telework schedule until March 31, 2020 from 9 am to 5 pm.

Statements from the BOP and the DOC Concerning the Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-2019)

The CIC contacted BOP and the DOC to inquire about protocols for handling the coronavirus outbreak.

CIC Releases First Annual Report on Youth Rehabilitation Act

The DC Council passed the Youth Rehabilitation Amendment Act of 2018, in December of 2018 which seeks to address the lack of specific programming for individuals sentenced under the previous YRA.

What Does the CIC Do?

The CIC is mandated to inspect and monitor the correctional facilities where DC residents are incarcerated, including DC Department of Corrections facilities in the District and over 100 Federal Bureau of Prisons facilities across the country.
