Florence Update - September 18, 2018

Tuesday, September 18, 2018
Hurricane Florence Image

The CIC staff checked on facilities in North Carolina and South Carolina, to see if there had been any flooding that affected these facilities. The only facility still affected by Florence is FCI Bennettsville. While it has not experienced any flooding, it did experience plumbing issues with two toilets, which have been addressed. The TRULINCS System went down this morning, so the inmate phones are not working at FCI Bennettsville. Mail is operating normally. The facility is on lockdown and visitation is still suspended.

Check https://www.bop.gov/locations/list.jsp to verify the status of visitation for the other facilities in North Carolina and South Carolina - and indeed all facilities - prior to planning visitation.

The CIC will continue to monitor the effects of Florence in these areas during the week. Meanwhile, if you know of any incarcerated DC residents in the areas affected by Storm Florence, and if they have reported any updated information to you their experiences, please contact the CIC at 202-478-9211 or 202-445-7623.

Thank you.
