DC Department of Corrections reports new positive cases of COVID-19

DC Department of Corrections reports new positive cases of COVID-19

The DC Department of Corrections (DC DOC) has been notified that nine additional residents in DOC custody have tested positive for COVID-19. This brings the current number of those who have tested positive in DOC custody to 37. Of that number, 8 individuals have recovered from their illness.

Information on the new positive cases:

 

  • 23 year old male;
  • 26 year old male;
  • 42 year old male;
  • 49 year old male;
  • 50 year old male;
  • 59 year old male;
  • 59 year old male;
  • 65 year old male; and
  • 66 year old male;

The residents were previously housed in the Correctional Treatment Facility, D Building, before being moved to the quarantine unit on March 26th as a precautionary measure after an individual from their unit tested positive for COVID-19. They are currently in isolation on the Male Isolation Unit and being monitored by medical staff according guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and DC Health.

DC DOC’s Medical Department and Unity Healthcare are working with DC Health on contact tracing and to protect the health and wellbeing of all individuals in DOC’s facilities.
