USP Lee is a high security facility located in Pennington Gap, VA. There is an adjacent minimum-security camp; however, there are no DC code offenders housed at the camp. USP Lee is approximately 429 miles from Washington, DC. The CIC conducted an on-site inspection of USP Lee on February 11, 2026, and February 12, 2026. USP Lee currently reports 36 staff vacancies, twenty of which are correctional officers. The report below contains CIC findings and recommendations.
