This is the CIC's annual inspection report on conditions of confinement at DC Department of Corrections (DOC) in Fiscal Year 2018. The DC Department of Corrections operates two jail facilities: the Correctional Treatment Center, and the Central Detention Facility also known as the DC Jail. The facilities are adjacent to one another and are located in Southeast Washington, D.C. 

The annual inspection report explores areas of concern within the facility regarding medical care, programming opportunities, recreation practices and the overall condition of the facility. 

The CIC thanks its staff, board members, interns, volunteers, Federal Bureau of Prisons Central Office and facility staff, incarcerated DC residents and their loved ones who have contributed to this report.
