CIC Testimony on Special Education for Incarcerated Young Adults
CIC Testifies at Education Committee Roundtable
On Wednesday, October 4, 2017, the DC Council Committee on Education held a public roundtable, entitled, "Education for Students During and After Detention, Commitment, or Incarceration." CIC Director Michelle Bonner testified before the Committee on the CIC's efforts to support keeping incarcerated persons age 18-22 with education disabilities in the District to obtain special education and other services. Director Bonner also shared CIC's observations of the education facilities for this population at the DC Jail, stressing the need for increased resources and space to meet the needs of this young adult population.
