
Dr. Prechelle Shannon is an accomplished mental health professional with over 20 years of experience at the intersection of mental health and criminal justice. As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Master Addictions Counselor (MAC), and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), Dr. Shannon has devoted her career to empowering individuals and communities. She is the founder of 4Truth, a trauma-informed criminal justice consulting organization focused on enhancing corrections policies and practices, including conditions of confinement, gender classification and housing, Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) compliance, reentry initiatives, trauma-informed programming, and victim advocacy. Dr. Shannon also serves as Chief Wellness Officer for the Mindflower Group, a culturally competent virtual therapy organization in Washington, D.C., providing holistic and evidence-based mental health care.
Dr. Shannon has served as a member for the National Association of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Counselors (NAADAC) - Critical Issues in the Black Community (CIBC). She collaborated with addiction professionals nationwide to address challenges in addiction recovery and mental health, particularly in communities of color, while advocating for professional development and mentorship opportunities for Black and Brown addiction treatment specialists. A passionate advocate for underserved and marginalized populations, Dr. Shannon is committed to ensuring that communities of color receive holistic care tailored to their cultural and structural needs. She now proudly serves as a member of the D.C. Corrections Information Council (CIC), bringing her extensive knowledge and dedication to public service.
